AWAKENED, SHAKEN AND STIRRED
/As Artists I believe we need to shake ourselves up every so often and step out into uncharted waters. We can get too comfortable with our own process, our learned knowledge and skill set.
We can become entrenched and trapped in our routines and we need something unexpected to awaken us again. This is why every few years I find myself doing something out of my comfort zone. Even though another part of me might be warning me off this wild and crazy idea, the wiser part of me knows this is essential to staying fresh and engaged as an Artist.
Not only does pushing into the new and unknown regularly train us to be more able to navigate risking in our art-making, but it helps us reconnect with beginner’s mindset – being an open book for possibilities and a place of beginning again, without preconceived ideas and letting go of what we think we know.
When we commit to something outside of our comfort zone and rattle our own cages, we become more resilient and are able to engage with change more easily.
This also sets us up beautifully for growth. We can risk failure, and when we do fail we recognize its merits in leading us to even more learning. We’ve moved from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset.
For me, this cycle of changing things up has led me to doing more than I could have ever imagined. And in 2014 it started me on a wonderful path of growth and opportunity through my connection to Nicholas Wilton and Art2life.
So much of what I am doing now has been inspired and leveraged through the mentoring, teaching and inspirational guidance that Nick offers. He truly models what he teaches and envisions a life filled with opportunities and limitless creativity – and he shares this knowledge with other Artists in powerful ways.
Every year Nick offers his 12-week Creative Visionary Program (CVP). This Program has helped hundreds of Artists to step more fully into their art-making, from learning valuable approaches, techniques to understanding how important it is to nurture your mindset, engaging with risk, and pushing further in your art.
I’m grateful to have been a part of his Coaching Team for the Program from 2016 to 2018, and for everything that it has given me, allowing me to now move forward into my own Coaching business and offerings. What I have learned through my connection to Art2life and Nick’s teachings has been invaluable to me.
CVP is being offered again this year…and you don’t want to miss your chance, if this feels like your time.
It all begins with the Free Art2Life Workshop series, which starts on April 26th. There are three art lessons seen over a week that cover a new approach to creating powerful design, value and colour in your art.
At the end of the Free Workshop series, there is an opportunity to enrol in the 12-week Creative Visionary Program. This Program is an opportunity for those who want to shake things up and go much deeper with their work.
